Coincidences and Updates

So today in my art class today I was just messin' 'round in my sketch book, and I drew this NERD. After I was finished with it and continued to study it i realized it looked A LOT like my little brother with glasses on. haha. This made me laugh. So when I got home I told my brother to put glasses on, and I took a picture for comparison. Its pretty great.

Also I was givin an offer from my old art teacher to have something put in the clay county art show. So I decided to enter my bear picture, and I spent a lot of yesterday scavaging for a good frame. In the end I think I made a fair choice.

My bear heading off to the art show :).
I'm so proud of him.

Where the Wild Things Are

Today I stayed home from school because I was way too tired to handle school.
I've been pretty non-productive the past few days so I don't have much to show you.
But what I do have is this trailer for Where the Wild Things Are.

Now, honestly, this looks like something straight out of my head. Really.
When I was watching this it was spooky how close some of the images were to things I've thought about and sketched and everything.
I'm excited too see it.

When I first heard about this movie being made a year or so ago, I was so worried they were just gonna slaughter it with CGI and hollywood infections.
But when I started watching the trailer I was blown away on how...honest and great it looked.
It's gonna be great.

"A Robot Constructed of Things From This World; aka, You."

I turned in a project today, and my art teacher

I feel like I've done the impossible.
Unfortunately I had to turn it it, so I can't upload it yet.

Sometimes I Just Post Out of Boredom...or Mabey It's Brain Overflow.

Sketchbook when I was stuck on mixed media.

It's a Weird Feeling

Imagine yourself fishing in a pond. For two years. The same pond.
Though you never catch anything, you keep casting that line.
Finally one day some one comes up to you and their like,
"hey, this pond has no fish in it..."

That's kind of how I feel right now.
MAD because I've wasted a lot of time trying to catch a fish.
But HAPPY because some one told me, now I don't have waste anymore time here.

It's a weird feeling.

On another note, I made a TODO list. It seems fairly pointless though,
seeing that I will probably forget about it in a few days, but who knows.

1. sell car/get a new car
2. get paper
3. pay for camp
4. think about photo project
5. figure out where I'm going...
6. stop the world from going digital
7. gain weight
8. see a good movie

"Human Nature"
Water color, pencil, and ink

I finished this last week but forgot about it 'cus I wasn't too fond of it. I think I was going in a good direction with the diamond overlap, but completely screwed it up when I drew in the....thing. owell.
one mistake made, one lesson learned. fair trade.

Today

This is just a preliminary sketch for my up coming project. My original idea was to do amoebas with messy water color, but of course my teacher slaughtered that idea.

Today in my photo class everyone was picking themes for the next project (on which we pick a them and do 15 photos on it), and one of the saddest things happened. Over half of the class chose either TREES or FLOWERS....

It makes my heart hurt how boring and cliche the world is getting.

People Will Always Let You Down

Well I had a fairly busy weekend, and the bad part is, I have nothing to show for it. Yet.
Friday I helped my mom with a photography shoot she had. Saturday I was at the beach, where Ishot over 2 rolls of film, so be excited to see those. And Sunday I was at church, then lunch, then a movie, then hanging out, then church again. phew.
But I will get those rolled developed and having something up soon.
Like anyone cares hahahaha.

I Was Just Reading This...

ARE WE THROUGH TALKING, I HOPE?

Why do I have to make
sense? What sense is
there to make unless
our senses make it? I
don't want to make
sense. I want sensibly
to make you because any
thing else is nonsense
and what sense is there
in that?

-John Ciardi

This just makes sense to me 'cus it sensibly
reminds me of the only person
that makes sense to me....

Who Makes the World?

A little over half way into the movie, Watchmen, we come to the adaption of a few different chapters of the comic. Even though it's different parts of the book put into one section, it is probably the scene in the movie that is most true to the book. In this scene Dr. Manhattan telaports to mars after becoming very angry at people on earth. We then see John making his fortress, as we flash back with in flash backs and flash forward, of the origins of Dr. Manhattan. The scene is so well done. I think what really does it though is the song that plays over the scene. Its so beautiful, an organ plays eerily while a choir sings. It really pulls the scene together but it plays so well on its own, as does the scene its self.

Here take a listen for your self, but you really should see the movie.

iamaminimalist?

"Grocery Store"
Water color, tracing paper, pencil, and tape.

I realized today that I'm what some people call a minimalist.
Which means I like simple and small yet intricate type things.
I can see this easily in my art and my style...
the way I speak. I don't even like having a lot of stuff in my room.
I guess all I can do is pursue this...
